This course discusses the industry development strategy of selected green energy areas. In accordance with the world development trend and Taiwan’s energy policy, Two smart technologies and three renewable energy technologies are chosen in this course. They are smart grid, smart green building, wind power, geothermal power, and solar energy, respectively. Generally, the fundamental knowledge, world and Taiwan market development status, SWOT analysis for Taiwan, related energy policy, challenges and barriers, and the development strategy adopted of the green energy industry are provided in this course. Students are expected to develop a background on the green energy technology for the future development. This course will explore the unique features of the green energy industry and discuss the feasible development strategy under the limited resources in Taiwan. We will give special consideration od possible strategies to overcome the challenges and barriers of development of green energy industry in Taiwan. At the end of the semester students will be able to 1) identify and describe key issues of green energy industry development; 2) select the suitable strategy in developing the green energy technology; and 3) exercise verbally and in writing to present analyses in term paper ( for a selected green energy).
