Course description: The aim of this course is to enhance the English ability of the students by web news and talk shows on the web. We mainly focus on the general news and sports news and the Talk shows on the web. We will start with our favorite stars, such as Jeremy Lin, and other familiar stars to help the students learn about English and media quickly....... The weekly schedule is just an example of the actual clips we will watch, because there may be one big piece of breaking news happening that week, so we may change our clips accordingly. This syllabus may be changed without prior notice to the students.

Word study: Every week, each student will be required to study a few words with his teammates and share with other students in the class and Line Chat . (Maybe there will be a spelling bee contest). Quiz: there will be an easy quiz every 2 weeks to help the students be familiar with the words in the media they have learned in the previous weeks. Final project: at the end of the semester. Each group should focus on one English news item or talk show and present to the class all what they have learned from this video clip. Grading system: Attendance: 30% (including word games, spelling bees, and assignments) Weekly notes and quizzes: 30% Final Project: 30% (show us a clip of your favorite topic ) Final Dictionary (sorted from your notes) 20%
