Freshman English is a series of 4-skill integrated English courses designed for non-English major freshman students at NCTU. The curriculum aims help students reach toward high-intermediate proficiency equivalent to CEFR B2 level. The curriculum consists of two courses: Freshman English (I) and Freshman English (II). All instructors must follow the course objectives and course evaluation to structure the curriculum. In addition, the textbook selected by each instructor must come from the suggested list of textbooks unless special conditions are approved by the LTRC curriculum committee

1.Class attendance: Class attendance will be monitored and students who have more than 2 unexcused absences will be withdrawn from the class. 2. All students are expected to be quiet during the lecture and in the hall. Lack of attention and active participation or getting involved in small talks about unrelated matters in class will lead to a reduced grade for participation.
Attendance: 10% participation: 10% Midterm and final exams: 40% Required writing assignment: 5% (a passage of 170-200 words) GEPT related works: 15%, including in-class practice test and four online practice tests Group projects): 20% (written report + presentation + discussion)
