A selective survey of American Literature from the end of the Civil War to the present. We will focus on the diversity that comprises American cultures and will include contemporary writers who work beyond the Norton canon.

Class Attendance and Participation: 10 % Group Presentation: 10% Quizzes: 20% Midterm Exam: 30 % Final Exam: 30 %. Quizzes can be given without prior announcement. No laptops or cell phones allowed in class. Note taking required.
