Introduction to Psychology

Learning outcomes: Students are expected to: 1. acknowledge the diversity of psychology 2. understand key concepts in psychology 3. view and interpret human behavior with an objective and logical perspective.
This course will be lectured and administered ALL in English. Students must have an adequate level of English listening, reading, writing, and speaking.

Exam questions will all be written in English. Students are NOT allowed to use dictionaries during exams.
Exams (70%): Midterm exam and final exam, 35% for each Class participation (5%): Quizzes, attendance, etc Research Project 25% Step 1: Students will practice how to observe people, and then work in groups (3~5), choosing one behavior as the target behavior for the group. Step 2: Every group must postulate hypotheses to explain the target behavior, and then survey literature and collect empirical data to support their hypotheses. Step 3:Write a research report.

Think Like a Psychologist
Students will explore and learn how to interpret human behavior in a scientific way.

備註:Throughout the semester, students will observe people and form their own hypotheses to interpret human behavior. They need to work in groups to discuss about their hypotheses and develop a method to verify hypotheses. By the end of the semester, they need to test their hypotheses and verbalize their testing results in a written report.
