This course covers theory, applications, and instrumentation of nonlinear optics. Fundamentals of the concepts of material polarization is discussed as an introduction to nonlinear optics. Second- and third-order of nonlinear susceptibilities are then presented from perspectives of nonlinear crystal discussing properties and structure of crystals that allow generation of higher order harmonics. Experimental practice using multiphoton nonlinear microscopy is emphasized for the last month of instruction.
