The goal of this course is to help students understand English used in "real" situations, natural English expressions and the natural flow of English speech. Therefore, students will be exposed to a variety of short films, television documentaries and online video from English speaking countries and in all genres. English Central, National Geographic movies, Disney films, Discovery or History Channel Films, and BBC classics may be used in the class. The major objectives of incorporating movies into "English Listening and Writing" curriculum are to help students develop strong listening and writing skills. Students practice listening by hearing various dialects, accents, and tones of speech from videos. They also enhance their understanding of vocabulary so they are developing their writing skills. Students will be given a list of words, phrases that might need explanation prior to viewing the movie. Alternatively, students can take notes and write down the vocabulary they learn from the video. Once the movie is over, students can write a short story, a summary or reconstruct a dialogue or make sentences with the words and phrases they take from the video.

Taught courses cover a broad spectrum of contemporary topics including film watching(National Geographic and Hollywood movies)& sentence writing or essay writing & group discussion課堂講授、影片欣賞(國家地理雜誌影片、英國廣播電台製作影片&好萊烏電影)、克漏字寫作、單字片語造句或心得寫作。
Attendance: 15% Midterm and Final Exams: 60% Class Participation: 25% 期中考30%,期末考30%,平時成績40%(出席率15%,課堂活動與抽測25%) (出席率必須達16週課程之3/2(18週-期中+期末=16週))
