概述

The course discusses the formation, composition, and properties of today's major fuel resources and their processes. This course is an introduction to alternative fuels and relevant chemistry and technology. Fundamental chemical aspects (i.e., catalysis and reactive intermediates) are also discussed. In addition, various research tools for green energy studies will be introduced. Besides, lab-based experiments may be followed after lectures.

先修科目

1. Graduate standing. 2. In-depth knowledge of chemistry, materials science/engineering, green energy technologies, and environmental engineering is required because regular reading assignments will be given for students' weekly presentation and discussion. 3. Lectures will be taught in English.

Lecture notes will be provided to students or via a teaching website by the instructor.

評分方式

Homework assignments for presentation and discussion will be given every week to access the level of understanding. Students are required to attend the scheduled lectures. Grade method: Weekly presentation and discussion: 30% Midterm exam: 20% Final term exam: 20% Final research report and presentation: 30% Total: 100%
