This class aims to provide comprehensive cancer epidemiological knowledge through lectures and discussions. The initial lectures will provide an overview of cancer types, biology, risk factors, screening, survivorship, and data sources. The remaining classes will consist of two segments. In the first segment, relevant epidemiological information for specific cancers, including methodological considerations for cancer epidemiological studies, will be lectured. In the second segment, students will individually present, critique, and formulate questions for class discussion on a recently published cancer epidemiological research paper.

Upon completing this course, students will obtain detailed understanding of different cancers and cancer epidemiology, which can be useful for epidemiological research in general. This course will also help develop epidemiological paper critiquing and discussion skills.
