This course is intended for chemistry majors. The course is intended to expand the students knowledge base in inorganic chemistry by learning fundamental aspects including structures, chemical bonding, molecular orbitals, and reactivity of (inorganic) molecules. The mathematics of symmetry is applied to chemical issues, such as bonding, and spectroscopy. Organometallic chemistry and catalysis are also introduced.
students should have taken or completed general chemistry (and better to complete organic chemistry as well) prior to enrolling in this course
