The course is designed to improve students' English writing ability to an academic level following the following four categories: 1. Students will improve grammar for writing. For example, students will learn complex sentence structures; correct usage of subject-verb agreement, pronoun reference, verb tense and forms, capitalization, and punctuation; and correcting errors such as fragments, choppy sentences, stringy sentences, run-on sentences, and unparalleled structures. 2. Students will first review paragraph structures and then learn to expand a paragraph to an essay. 3. Student will learn different types of essay structures such as logical division of ideas, opinion essays, compare/contrast essays, argumentative essays, etc. 4. Students will also learn to write essays adding citations correctly (e.g. APA/MLA/Chicago).
