This one-semester English course is designed to enhance students’ oral communication skills, particularly in formal speaking situations. Students will present a series of speeches, ranging from personal introductions, a speech from a personal experience, debates, presenting an informative speech in groups, and speaking in a formal context. Methods of preparing and presenting information through visual aids, inclusive of PowerPoint/Keynote and black- and whiteboards, will also be reviewed. Students will use a combination of various delivery techniques to enhance their comprehensibility and effectiveness of public speaking. During presentations, students will also be evaluating the speeches delivered by peers with the hope of improving their own presentation skills.
