The course will provide students with an overall understanding of mental health, briefly introduce mental health issues in selected vulnerable groups, and develop the capacity to participate in global mental health research, advocacy, and policy planning.

Requirements and grading: Weekly reading of the required articles 20% Attendance and active participation in class discussions 30% Midterm report (1-2 pages research note) on 2023/10/10 10% Final presentation on 2023/12/25 40% Midterm report and final presentation • The main objective of the final presentation is to present a relevant and feasible research question • Midterm report should succinctly outline the topic of interest (e.g. What is the problem? Why this problem matters? What do we know about the potential solutions?) 1-2 pages including references (APA style https://apastyle.apa.org/) • The final presentation should include the following: o Introduction - why this problem matters? o Summary of scientific evidence o Knowledge gap o Research question to address the knowledge gap o Potential research methods o Strengths, limitations, and expected challenges • The presentation should be based on additional academic materials (articles, reports, etc.) beyond the lectures taught and assigned readings.
