This course is about technical writing of scientific data in English (not an English course). The course aims to deliver writing skills required to describe or explain a scientific data completely. In contrast to literature writing or newspaper reporting, technical writing deals with elucidation of data and not the writer’s view point on the subject. The course includes letter writing for help in Cover letters, Figure designing to help in manuscript preparation, Caption writing, Literature search in a hands on manner. Thus, this course is 50% lecture, and 50% project work on student’s individual data that could be used for Thesis/manuscript preparation. The students will be taught the whole manuscript submission procedure and the files (manuscript, supporting information, highlights, Table of Contents graphic, Cover letter) required for those. Common writing skills (tense, voice, punctuation, formatting, paragraph formation, conciseness tips) will be taught. Reference books, course slides, quizzes, and homework assignments will be provided for understanding and practice.
This course is for Masters 2nd year, and Ph.D 2nd year or higher. You need to have some data to write your own manuscript/thesis.

Evaluation will be based on : a) Presence in class (20%); b) assignments (20 %); c) Final project (60 %)
