1. To introduce the fundamental concepts and theory of heat treatment of steel. 2. To develop a basic understanding of the mechanical and the other properties of different heat-treated steels. 3. To provide a basic knowledge base for the machining of materials, this course will have students make a hand-made knife by themselves from a plane steel plate.

本課程以實作為主,藉由上學期鋼鐵熱處理之學理,實際對探鋼刀胚進行熱處理及切割、打磨及組裝等實作,最後完成作品。
作業佔30%、期中報告佔20%、期末作品50%。 We will have mid-term report and final report, and the merit will be judged by student's performance on their reports and works.
