The purpose of this course is to provide an introduction of fundamental properties of Chinese morphology for those who are interested in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. We attempt to present the empirical facts of Chinese morphology faithfully, and, whenever possible, state the generalizations we arrive at clearly. Pedagogically, this course is explicitly designed for students who are not necessarily to have much linguistic background. Thus, we try to minimize the use of technical linguistic terminology, and those terms that do occur in the class will be carefully defined.
