This course will introduce the principles of the ultrafast optics from the light sources to the detection systems, including the nonlinear optical processes involved. Based on these basic knowledges, the experimental designs and setups used in the frontier research of ultrafast time-resolved electronic and vibrational spectroscopy will be surveyed.
