The course will provide students with an understanding of the basic principles of travel demand modeling. The students should gain skills in the collection and analysis of travel demand data. The students will understand travel demand models from a theoretical, applied and practical perspective, and should apply these methods to estimating and forecasting travel demand. Students will become familiar with various aggregate and disaggregate travel demand forecasting processes, including model development, application, and interpretation of outputs. Instruction and practice in econometric model formulation, model estimation, and use of behavioral models in transportation data analysis and prediction will be included. Practice problems are assigned to provide experience in data handling, model formulation, estimation, and interpretation.

This is a lecture-based course supplemented with real case studies. Students are expected to read class materials before the class; students are also encouraged to discuss the materials in the class. Please let me (or the TA) know (anonymously, if you wish) what is going right and what is going wrong with lectures, assignments, content, etc. It is far better for all of us if we can work on these problems during the course and leave you satisfied at the end.
1.學期作業 A research paper and a brief 25 minute presentation at the end of the semester are required. Approximately five assignments will be distributed in the class. 2.考試狀況 One midterm exam 3.評量方法 Assignments and class participations 20%; midterm exam 40%; term project 40%

In this section, we will discuss how to employ the model for analysis, including the use of elasticities, forecasting, and welfare analysis.

Advanced discrete choice analysis
In the final section, we will cover some of the most important and practical extensions of multinomial logit models, including nested logit and GEV, mixed logit, combining datasets, and choice models with latent variables.
