This course introduces key properties of Chinese for students interested in (A) transforming linguistic knowledge into marketable technological applications in the AI era, and (B) teaching Chinese as a foreign language through comparative analysis with English - focusing on phonology, morphology, and syntax. We aim to present empirical facts accurately and articulate clear generalizations where possible. Designed for students with little or no background in linguistics, the course minimizes technical terminology, with all necessary terms clearly defined.
