This course introduces students to the fundamental principles of mass spectrometry and its integration with modern omics technologies. Students will explore how these techniques are applied at the intersection of biomedicine and biotechnology to address complex biological questions, advance clinical applications, support drug development, and enable physiological and metabolic analysis. The course provides a comprehensive overview of how mass spectrometry can be applied to diverse biological samples and clinical specimens, highlighting its role in proteomics, PTMomics, biomarker discovery, immunology, signaling pathways, and multi-omics. In addition to lectures, students will engage in hands-on projects that involve analyzing real mass spectrometry datasets, gaining practical skills in data interpretation and application. By the end of the course, students will have developed a solid foundation in mass spectrometry analysis and will be equipped to apply these approaches in research across the fields of biomedicine and biotechnology. *** Please bring your own laptop to the course for the hand-on practice.
