Vibration is dynamic motion, periodic or a-periodic occurred to machines and structures. Musical instruments, for example, a musical box, generate musical notes as a form of good vibration. However, vibrations are often bad to machines and structures, causing fatigue, failure, and imprecision. How do we reduce vibration from affecting the very sensitive equipment used in semiconductor fabrication? How do we have stable imaging on a hovering drone that vibrates in the air? This course provides students with the fundamental knowledge of vibration analysis and an understanding of vibration measurement. During the course, you will have the opportunity to practice the theory in the experimental session and computer session using Matlab. Finally, you can apply the theory and instrument to solve the real-life vibration problem.
