This course is designed to equip graduate students in TESOL with fundamental skills in quantitative research. It will cover essential topics such as questionnaire design, descriptive statistics, and common inferential tests for comparing means and examining variable relationships (e.g., t-test, ANOVA, regression, and Chi-square test). Through hands-on practice with statistical software and analysis of real-world data, students will learn how to design a quantitative study, report statistical findings, and critically evaluate academic papers. The goal is for students to be able to conduct a small-scale quantitative study and apply their research skills to inform their teaching practices.
No prior knowledge of statistics is required for this course.

1. Participation (10%): Active engagement in group discussions and learning activities is expected. 2. Weekly assignments (40%): These hands-on assignments will provide students with practical experience using statistical software to analyze data and apply the concepts learned in class. 3. Poster presentation (20%): Students will design a professional poster to showcase their own quantitative research project. 4. Final exam (30%): Students will complete a comprehensive two-part final exam. Both the oral and written portions will assess their understanding of quantitative research principles and their application in English Language Teaching.
