We will study iterations from the perspective of discrete dynamical systems, with emphasis on qualitative methods such as ergodicity, invariant manifolds, normal forms, and structural stability. Specific applications include chaos, bifurcations, and Takens’ embedding theorem. Through this course, students will develop a systematic understanding of the local and global behavior of discrete dynamical systems.
