No prior knowledge of economics is required to enroll in this course. Health economics is a particularly compelling field because it brings economics and health care together, offering valuable insights into how limited resources can be used efficiently to improve health outcomes. It addresses important questions such as how health services should be financed, how efficiently different health interventions work, and how health services can be distributed equitably. The field also examines the economic implications of public policies, the behavior of health care providers, and the choices consumers make in health care markets. Studying health economics can support better-informed policy decisions and help ensure that health systems are effective, equitable, and sustainable—all of which are essential to public welfare. This course is designed to introduce international students interested in health policy and policy making to the fundamental concepts of health economics.
1. This is an introductory level course. 2. Students do not need to have prior economic knowledge in order to enroll in this course.
