概述

This seminar introduces students to current research in the Philosophy of Mind, broadly construed, through a series of presentations (some in person, some online) by invited scholars from Taiwan and abroad. Speakers will share ongoing work from a range of disciplines, including philosophy, psychology, cognitive science, and neuroscience, thereby exposing students to contemporary debates at the forefront of research. The seminar provides participants with an opportunity to engage directly with experts, ask questions, and critically evaluate competing theoretical perspectives.

先修科目

None. However, as the course is conducted at least partly in English, students should have the English language skills necessary to engage in discussion with speakers at the seminar, and - if attending the seminar for credit - to produce commentaries on their presentations.

教學方式

The seminar will feature 8 sessions of 1h50 each. Barring exceptional cases that will be announced in advance, both in-person and online attendance will be available.

評分方式

For students attending the seminar for credit, the assessment scheme will have the following two components: 1) Attendance and participation: 60% Students are expected to attend the seminar regularly, engage actively with invited speakers, and contribute to discussion. 2) Written reflections: 40% Students must submit five short reflection pieces (approximately 300–500 words each) over the course of the semester. Each reflection should critically engage with one seminar presentation by discussing a question, argument, objection, or broader implication raised by the talk.
