課程概述與目標: This course provides graduate students with comprehensive training in research methodologies, emphasizing practical application of diverse research methods while engaging with contemporary debates about methodological innovation in critical humanities and social sciences. Students will develop skills in research design, data collection, analysis, and delivery while critically examining how methodological decisions are political and shape knowledge production. The course is organized into three main units: The first part, Foundations of Cultural Studies Research, introduces students to epistemological debates within cultural studies, examining how the field’s interdisciplinary tendency demands reflexive research practices and methodological innovation. The second part, Qualitative Research Methods and Practices, provides hands-on training in ethnographic fieldwork, interview techniques, discourse analysis, archival research, and digital methods for studying historical and current cultural formations. The third unit, Contemporary Challenges and Innovations, addresses emerging methodological approaches including digital ethnography, multimodal analysis, participatory research methods, and ethical considerations in cultural research. Students will engage with both established and new methodological approaches, developing critical perspectives on how to select, adapt, and combine research methods appropriate to their specific research questions and contexts. The course emphasizes reflexive practice, encouraging students to examine their own positionality as researchers while developing practical skills in research design, data analysis, and scholarly communication.
The course is taught in English.
