This course explores pattern recognition through the lens of geometric spaces and representation learning. Moving beyond static algorithms, students study how computers structure raw high-dimensional data into meaningful geometry—covering metric engineering, non-linear manifold unrolling, probabilistic latent density fields, and the mathematical mechanics used to audit modern self-supervised foundation embeddings. This is a revised design that shifts away from traditional approaches focused on classification methods or neural networks, with the goal that the students will gain a more unified understanding, instead of just a toolbox of algorithms and/or models.
Mathematics: Calculus, Linear Algebra, Probability Scientifica programming skills (python/numpy and/or matlab)
