This course introduces civil engineering students to BIM (Building Information Modeling) automation and custom application development. Students learn to move beyond manual BIM workflows by building automation tools with Dynamo (visual programming) and by developing custom Revit add-ins using the Revit API in C# (textual programming). The course progresses from foundational visual programming to software development practices, focusing on the creation custom tools that automate repetitive tasks, manage complex data, and integrate advanced engineering logic directly into the BIM environment.
The course assumes basic familiarity with Revit but assumes no prior programming experience; programming concepts are introduced in class.
