概述

本課程為文化研究之入門概論,以「人民/民眾/大眾」為核心主題,引領學生認識文化研究的主要理論取向與分析方法。「大眾」既是現代政治動員的對象、文化生產的受眾,也是媒介中介的主體,其概念本身即折射出文化研究跨學科、多向度的知識關懷。本課程藉由聚焦這一主題,帶領學生掌握文化研究的問題意識與核心論爭。 課程分三個單元展開。第一單元「諸民之辨」從政治哲學切入,辨析「人民」概念在現代語境中的多重形態——從無民到民粹,從民族自決到社會運動——揭示「民」作為政治主體的內在張力與歷史變遷。第二單元轉向文化史與文化社會學,透過Burke、Adorno、Bourdieu、Gramsci等人的經典文本,考察大眾文化如何在與精英文化的對立中被定義,如何成為霸權競逐的場域,以及如何在新自由主義治理下重塑主體性。第三單元「Mediating the Mass」則引入媒介理論,從海德格、班雅明、克拉考爾到霍爾、麥克魯漢、基特勒,探討媒介如何構成大眾感知與認同的基礎設施,並延伸至當代平台文化與粉絲經濟的討論。 三個單元雖各有理論重心,卻共享一個問題意識:面對「人民/民眾/大眾」這一充滿爭議的概念,文化研究如何以跨學科的視野,揭示其中複雜交織的權力關係、文化實踐與認同政治。修習本課程,學生將獲得進入文化研究領域的基本理論裝備與批判性閱讀能力。
