概述

Academic Listening and Discussion is a CEFR B2-level course designed to strengthen students' academic listening, speaking, and critical thinking skills through exposure to a wide range of contemporary and academic topics. Approximately 80% of the course content is academic-related, ensuring rigorous preparation for higher-education environments. Students will practice understanding lectures, discussions, interviews, and presentations while developing strategies for identifying main ideas, supporting details, speaker attitudes, and organizational patterns. Through guided discussions, pair work, and presentation activities, students will learn to express opinions clearly, respond thoughtfully to different perspectives, and support ideas with evidence and examples derived from academic sources. The course also aims to enhance students' confidence in participating in academic and professional communication in English. By the end of the course (CEFR B2 level), students will be able to: * Understand the main ideas and important supporting details in academic listening materials. * Apply listening strategies such as note-taking, predicting, and identifying speaker purpose and attitude. * Participate actively in discussions using appropriate academic English expressions. * Express opinions clearly, integrate source evidence, and respond thoughtfully to different viewpoints. * Analyze, compare, and evaluate information, arguments, and source materials critically. * Summarize spoken information and present ideas in a logical, source-supported, and organized manner. * Improve fluency, confidence, and interaction skills in academic communication settings.
